COVID may cause brain damage even in people that never had covid symptoms

I’m not sure but it seems likely that the distinction between signs and symptoms is relevent here. No symptoms would imply the damage is not reported by asymptomatic (emphasis here) patients. Proper assessment in these cases would yield a sign of brain damage thru appropriate brain scan or of cognitive impairment thru appropriate testing.

Edit: it appears you are correct. Patients hallucinated and reported various symptoms not associated with ARDS but which should now be recognized as possible risks from covid. I hadn’t yet read the article, my error…
